John Connor Funeral Details

The funeral for our esteemed Life Member John Connor will be held at St Andrews Catholic Church 40 Breakfast Road Marayong at 1pm on Wednesday the 3rd April with a procession to burial at Castlebrook Memorial Park 712/746 Windsor Road, Rouse Hill.

The wake will be at The Marsden Brewhouse, Richmond Road, corner of Hawthorne Avenue.  It’s 10 minutes from the cemetery.

NSWRL High Performance Squad officials out and about in round 3. Some of the highlights included:

- Clayton Wills becoming NRL official #167 making his debut as a Touch Judge in the Tigers Sharks match
- A 3 minute cameo for Charlie Suters debuting at the end of an exciting NSW Cup match at Lidcombe that finished with a last minute field goal
- 150 combined NSW games for Nick Beashel at Seiffert Oval Canberra
- A Ron Massey Cup debut as a referee for Micheal Ford at Crestwood with Birthday Boy Pat Mackey doing his best work on the line
- 100 total NSW games for Louis Matheson

VALE IAN HEADS OAM

The game has lost one its best today with the passing of Ian Heads OAM.

Honourable, ethical, dignified, engaging and a superman of sports journalism.

Friends and former colleagues have paid tribute to legendary sports journalist and author, Ian Heads, who died on Monday, aged 81.

Ian, who was inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame last July, passed away in hospital surrounded by family after a long illness.

A literary giant, Ian Heads began his journalistic career with The Daily and Sunday Telegraph in the early 1960s, and also worked for Rugby League Week, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Sun-Herald.

As a sports historian, Ian also authored more than 40 sporting biographies and histories.

The NSWRLRA passes on its deepest sympathies to wife Joy, son Phillip and his family, friends and colleagues
