Combined Referees Training Session

Cronulla Rugby League Referees Association hosted a combined training session at Menai on Wednesday 18 May 2016.
St George and Canterbury Associations joined Cronulla in what was a great initiative to bring Associations together and utilise the knowledge and skills made available by the presence of many current NRL Referees.

The night was supported by the New South Wales Rugby League Referees Association, New South Wales Rugby League and the National Rugby League.

Tony Archer addressed the group before the session emphasising that as officials we should have no boarders. We should be helping each other to develop and promoting the profession of Rugby League Referees.

The 70 plus active referees that took part in the session enjoyed the experience.

At the end of the night a special presentation took place which was sponsored by the NSWRL Referees Association. The presentation was made to a participant who showed great enthusiasm, interest and effort in the skills and drills that were offered. Whilst this was a tough decision it was decided to award 2 x State of Origin Game 1 tickets to 14 year old Nicky Hewitt from the Cronulla.

Congratulations to Nicky and everyone who participated on the night.

The NSWRLRA thanks Jarred Maxwell for putting this night together. It was outstanding.

At the end of the night Doug Winton with many helpers slaved over a hot BBQ to feed to masses. A good night was had by all.
