It is with great sadness that I advise of the passing of Newcastle Coalfields Life Member Gerry Hinds this morning. Gerry had been ill for quite some time and he entered hospital for the final time earlier this week. Gerry was the NRAS Provider for Newcastle Coalfields up until his passing and always had time for the junior members of his association having mentored many of the members, including those that are currently in the NRL and NSWRL squads. He was also instrumental in the forming of the Newcastle Coalfields Referees and served on the initial executive committee, remaining on the executive up until recent times. The thoughts of the CRLRA will be with his family and I will notify of funerals details when the become available.
